A Place to Return To in Uluwatu: Our Stay at Nisi Villas
If there’s anything Bali teaches you quickly, it’s how to feel at home in its warmth & heat.
And if there’s any place in Bali that brings you back to yourself — calm, peaceful, held — it’s Nisi Villas.
Tucked within the coastal hum of Uluwatu, Nisi Villas became my sanctuary during a 7-day retreat with Earth To Body.
More than a place to sleep, it became part of the retreat itself — offering silence when the soul asked for it, and joy when laughter came easy.
Arrival & First Impressions
When I first stepped into Nisi Villas, the chaos of Bali’s bustling roads melted away.
I was met with simplicity, structure, and stillness — clean lines, whitewashed walls, a Santorini soul in the heart of the tropics.
The space was instantly grounding. Peaceful. Neat. Elevated with luxury yet humbly at ease.
It didn’t try too hard to impress. It simply welcomed you — and that, to me, is timeless design.
The Villa Experience
We stayed in one of their three-bedroom villas. Every detail was a soft reminder of intentional design.
A central private pool, like a living altar to joy, where our group gathered daily — cannonballs and all.
Sunken lounge couches in the open-air living room & indoors living room: the perfect stage for group reflections and end-of-day photo reviews.
Comfortable beds and a breezy, Mediterranean-inspired layout that didn’t play favorites — all bedrooms had their own ensuite, and each one felt like a main room.
The full kitchen-dining-entertainment zone felt luxe and lived-in. And when night fell, the space transformed into a cocoon of warm lights, music, and deep chats over leftovers & drinks.
🌿 Design That Grounds
Nisi’s architecture plays with light and breathes space. All-white walls. Smooth curved edges. Textures that invite barefoot walks.
The Mediterranean vibe gave me a sense of “home” in the middle of Bali’s heat. It soothed the overstimulation that often comes with traveling — the kind of peace you don’t realize you’re craving until you’re in it.
💛 Staff & Service
As always, the Balinese spirit shined through — warm smiles, soft speech, and helpful hands. Bagus and his team were very present and friendly.
Prompt WhatsApp replies to the 24/7 security presence (a quiet but strong reassurance), their team was approachable, present, and gracious.
Whether it was assisting with transport, recommending local spots, or just giving us space — they struck the perfect balance of support and freedom.
🥗 Dining & Location
While Nisi is well-equipped with a fully functional kitchen, the surrounding gems in Uluwatu are hard to ignore.
Overhead Café: just a 3-minute walk, perfect for slow breakfasts or light dinners.
Bambu Fitness: 10 minutes away, for the movement-minded.
Impossible Beach: a fun trek down, a challenging trek up, but worth every step. A surfer’s hidden paradise (not for beginners!), and lined with beach bars that serve good views.
Everything else — from markets to restaurants — was within a 5–10 minute ride. You choose your adventure: walk, Gojek, or buggy service.
✨ Wellness, Retreat & Memory-Making
This wasn’t just a stay — it was the container for memories & relaxation.
The Nisi Villa offers free wifi, in-villa breathwork, massages, and what I wish was there was the upcoming recovery treatments all supported by the peaceful environment Nisi offered.
Our favorite daily ritual? Gathering by the pool, reviewing our videos from the day, wrapped in laughter and sun-baking.
Moments like these don’t just happen anywhere. They happen in places that hold you well.
Visual Journal
Photos of our stay tell the story just as much as words — the pool glistening under late morning light, the team circled in the lounge soaking in the whole retreat’s memories.
